The following introduction was written by Alyssa aka Little Rikku - August 2014
Alyssa started her dancing career at age 8 in South Carolina; training with teachers from Freed’s School of Dance in the art of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical. During her time she predominantly focused on Ballet and Lyrical with these teachers and participated in 10 performances until she moved to Texas in 2007. During the next few years she took a break from dancing only to pick it back up again in 2010 in which she enrolled as a pre-professional ballerina in Performing Arts Conservatory of Texas until they closed down in 2013. She danced in major roles in the ballets: Beauty and the Beast and Thumbelina.
Alyssa pursued her college education at Texas Tech University in 2012, studying in the Russian Language and Area Studies with a Minor in Dance focusing on Ballet and Hip Hop. After a year’s worth of education, she decided to come back to her new hometown to further her education where she will gain her Associate’s in Dance and later transfer to get her degree and finish her Russian Language minor as well.
Outside of her classical training and schoolwork she is part of a local cosplay dance team, The Syrins. In The Syrins, she is a great team member, dancer, cosplayer, and occasionally a teacher. She has attended about 4 conventions and several other venues since the last summer as a dancer at the events, a panelist teaching with the girls, and a guest cosplayer with the girls. She also has won 2 awards for best performance at two different conventions in 2012 and again in 2013 for her Swan Lake solo. Right now her dance hobbies include hula hooping, swing dancing, intermediate pole, and gogo dancing.
